Exploring Music is a small group class for young musicians to learn the basics of music, explore beginning piano, refine their singing skills, and set the foundation for future music lessons and ensembles.

Your child will love the weekly play-based classes with our highly skilled teachers.

Class Description:

Preschoolers ages 3-5 explore music basics, singing, rhythm and a bit of piano in our fun and engaging group class.

Exploring Music is a perfect introduction to music education, designed specifically for your child’s age and skills. Students will learn the order of the musical alphabet, black and white notes on the piano, sing songs, and learn to count rhythms, all in a play-based setting. 

No home piano or practice is required.

Children must be accompanied by an adult during class. Siblings are welcome to come and observe class quietly. 

Grand Avenue students will be picked up and dropped off from their classrooms by our teachers (no parent required for GAP kids).

Tuition:

$30 per class per student. Book online a la carte.

Tuition refundable until June 3, 2026

Make-Up classes available until August 20, 2026

Location:

Exploring Music classes are located in Room 211 at our Western Springs studio location, 4211 Grand Ave., Western Springs, IL. We are handicap and stroller accessible.

Park in the parking lot by the playground and enter through the main entrance (Door 4). Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor and our classroom is located at the end of the hall near the restrooms. Door 1, which faces Grand Avenue, will remain locked and teachers are not allowed to let families in through that entrance. Please go around to main entrance with the big glass doors.

Schedule Changes:

Cancel your class, reschedule or book additional classes using your child’s online profile. Classes cancelled with fewer than 12 hours notice are considered a no-show and will not be eligible for rescheduling.

 Class sizes may not exceed six students.

Caregivers are expected to attend class and assist the student as needed. Siblings are welcome to attend and watch quietly.

Tuition is refundable until June 8, 2026. Missed or cancelled classes may be rescheduled before August 20, 2026 but will not be refunded. Classes cancelled with 12 or fewer hours notice are considered a no-show and are not eligible for rescheduling.

Exploring Music tuition expires on the last day of offered classes (August 20, 2026) and is non-transferrable.

In the event of severe weather, for your safety, classes will be cancelled.

While we do not anticipate issues, Mattix Music Studio teachers reserve the right to excuse children with destructive, aggressive, excessively distracting or disrespectful behavior. Parents with high energy students should plan on attending class with their child to assist their behavior as needed.
