In Music Together Generations classes, teachers and families with children from birth to Kindergarten foster meaningful musical relationships across the ages, as “Musical Grandfriends” join the music-making circle.
Children and families, especially those without extended family nearby, discover the value of intergenerational relationships and become more comfortable engaging with older adults.

Who Can Participate:
• Children from birth through Kindergarten with one caregiver
• Seniors ages 65+
Class Limit: 12 Children & 12 Grandfriends. First come first serve.
If you register for the Demo Class and are unable to attend, please let our office know so we can let other friends on our waiting list join.

Room 202/Dance Studio at the Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Avenue, Western Springs, IL.
Who Can Participate:
• Children from birth through Kindergarten with one caregiver
• Seniors age 65+
Music:
Our class will be using the Mini Berry like the other Music Together December classes at Mattix Music Studio. We will incorporate holiday songs to give some extra festive cheer to our classes.
Tuition:
Seniors – $15.00 per Grandfriend.
Families with Children – Starting at $90.00 per family.
Family Tuition
$90 for a caregiver and up to 3 children from one immediate family for the December Session.
Tuition for the 3-week holiday session is limited to one close family unit and may not be shared among friends or extended family.
Tuition rates are per family and include weekly classes and a beautiful songbook.
Unlimited make-up classes available as space allows in any Music Together® class within the session.
Nanny-Share Tuition
$105 for a nanny-share with up to 3 children from 2 households*
$120 for a nanny-share with up to 3 children from 3 households*
Tuition is for the December 3 week session
*Each household will receive their own songbook and digital music download per household.
Frequently Asked Questions
How active will Seniors be in class?
We will form a circle of chairs around young families so Seniors can sit and participate as they are able. Large movement is not required, and all our activities will be adapted for people with any level of activity and comfort level.
Is your building handicap accessible?
Yes, we have handicap parking, a ramp into the main entrance and an elevator to the 2nd floor where we are holding class.
The handicap accessible restroom and diaper changing table is located on the 1st floor. There are restrooms located on the 2nd floor, too, but they are not wheelchair accessible.
Do parents stay or drop off the kids?
Children are required to have one caregiver participate in class with them. It is not a drop off class. The caregiver could be any adult – Mom, Dad, babysitter, nanny, etc.
What music will we use in class?
Our teacher will introduce you to this session’s album. You will love the diverse collection of original songs and chants, folk tunes, and world music.
December classes include holiday songs to add extra festive fun.
We look forward to using music recommended to us by our Grandfriends, as well!
Do Seniors get music to take home, too?
We wanted to keep tuition as low as possible for Grandfriends, so no, a songbook with a music access code is not included in Grandfriend tuition.
However, we are happy to provide Grandfriends with complimentary CD’s of the song collection upon request.
Do I need to bring a Senior in order to sign up my children? Do I need to bring children in order to sign up as a Senior?
No, child enrollment is separate from Grandfriend enrollment. The class size is limited to 12 children and 12 Grandfriends and we don’t expect you to know each other at first.
We hope that families and Seniors, especially those who live far away from their extended family, take this opportunity to form friendships and have meaningful connections with new friends from different generations in our special music classes.
If Grandma/Grandpa brings the kids, do they need to pay to participate?
Children must be accompanied by one caregiver in class, which could be Grandma or Grandpa (or Mom, Dad, Nanny, Babysitter, etc.).
If Grandma or Grandpa wants to attend class in addition to another caregiver (Mom, Dad, etc.), they need to enroll as an official Grandfriend and pay tuition.
Can a caretaker/companion of a Senior attend class?
Yes, caretakers of Seniors are very welcome to attend classes and assist as needed. But everyone present will be expected to groove and sing along, so you’ve been warned! 😉
